Florida Atlantic University softball's Kylee Hanson and baseball's Brendon Sanger have been named FAU Players of the Week.
Hanson led FAU in the circle last week, making three appearances. The sophomore pitched 10 innings, dealing 22 strikeouts, three walks and no earned runs. Hanson held No. 13 Kentucky scoreless in three innings pitched while making appearances in both games of the doubleheader. She capped the week by throwing the 24th no-hitter in program history on Saturday night in the Owls' 1-0 win over Conference USA opponent Charlotte. It was the first of her career and she struck out a career-high 18 in the process.
Sanger hit .429 on the week with seven RBI on three doubles and a home run. The junior slugged .857 with an on-base percentage of .600 with six walks and no strikeouts in 20 plate appearances. Sanger had a streak of seven consecutive games with an extra-base hit going into Sunday's contest, where he was walked three times. He reached base multiple times in each of FAU's four games, including four times on Saturday and Sunday against FIU. Sanger was a perfect 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position and successfully advanced runners in 7 of his 8 opportunities.
No. 14 Baseball will face Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday, April 14 in Ft. Myers, Fla. at 6 p.m. and then travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to play a three-game series against C-USA opponent Southern Miss beginning on Friday, April 17. Softball will be in Huntington, W.V. this weekend to take on C-USA rival Marshall starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
