Agnes Bucz will represent Florida Atlantic University's swimming and diving team at the 2015 NCAA Championships. The women's competition will be held March 19-21 in Greensboro, N.C.
"We are happy and excited for Agi as she has worked very hard to qualify for the NCAA Championship," said Lara Preacco, FAU's head swimming and diving coach. "It is going to be a great way for her to end the season and will also help prepare her for another NCAA appearance next year."
Bucz will be participating in her signature events, which are the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free. Trials will be held each morning at 11 a.m. and finals will begin at 7 p.m. every evening, with the 50 final on Thursday, 200 on Friday, and 100 on Saturday.
Bucz, a junior from Budapest, Hungary, has been one of the women's top performers this season and had her best swims during the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships in February. She took first place and broke her previous school records in the 100 free (49.01) and 200 free (1:45.58). She also took second place in the 50 free with a time of 22.95, which is the second best time in C-USA. She also holds the best time in the 100 free and 200 free and second best time in the 500 free in C-USA.
For the season, Bucz has 25 first-place finishes, 10 second-place finishes and five third-place finishes. She also was recognized for holding a 3.0 grade point average or higher during the fall 2014 semester and was named to the Dean's List.
