Florida Atlantic University men's golf team won its first tournament of the season, the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational hosted by Bethune-Cookman, with a final score of 902 after three rounds of play.
With his best finish so far this season, junior Derron Peyton took second place overall after shooting rounds of 78, 75, and a season-low 68 for a total of 221. The first place finisher from Army was only one stroke ahead at the end of three rounds.
Sophomore Connor O'Rourke moved up one spot to tie for fourth with eight-over 216. Ending the first two rounds tied for first place, Cody Christensen concluded the tournament in sixth with a total of 225.
Junior Michael Perez improved his performance, shooting a 78 in the third round and finishing tied for 13th with a total score of 236. Close behind tied for fifth was senior Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla who shot 237.
Caleb Sibley concluded play tied for 21st with rounds of 79, 79, and 81, while Morgan Hill finished in 38th place shooting 29-over 216.
The Owls will face Villanova in a dual meet on March 2-3 in Lake Worth, Fla.
