Owls Host Season Opening Kick-Off Classic

The Florida Atlantic University softball team will begin its 2015 season this weekend as hosts of the FAU Kick-Off Classic. Tournament action begins on Friday, February 6 at 9 a.m. and the Owls start their season at 6 p.m. when they face Arkansas.
The Owls went 33-22 last season and will return their entire pitching staff, including 2015 Preseason Conference USA Pitcher of the Year Samantha Messer. Offensively, Christina Martinez, who was a first team all-conference selection last year, is expected to lead the Owls' attack.
Kansas made the NCAA Tournament last season, while frequent visitors Penn State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech and LIU Brooklyn round of the rest of the field. The tournament will be a true round robin format with each team playing the rest of the field one time over the course of three days.
