Florida Atlantic University women's softball player Amanda Wilson and men's tennis player Andrei Morin-Kougoucheff have been chosen as FAU Players of the Week after both had outstanding athletic performances over the weekend.
An All-Freshman selection last season, Wilson continued a strong sophomore campaign throwing a complete game four-hit shutout against nationally ranked Tulsa on Friday. Wilson struck out five in the 1-0 victory. She made a relief appearance on Saturday when she tossed a perfect inning in relief against Providence. Wilson ended the weekend by picking up a win over Maryland, throwing a shutout inning in relief. For the weekend, she threw nine scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and gave up only five hits.
Morin-Kougoucheff went 2-0 in the number one position in FAU's wins over Stetson and Kennesaw State last weekend. On Friday, the junior won 6-4, 7-5 in singles and teamed with senior Will Neuner to win 6-2 in the number one doubles position. On Saturday against Kennesaw, he won 6-2, 6-3 in singles and 6-2 in doubles. He is on a three-match win streak and is 5-1 in doubles so far this season.
Softball will host the FAU Invitational on Feb. 20-21 featuring Florida A&M, Princeton, Albany and North Florida. Men's tennis has a busy weekend ahead as they travel to Tallahassee to play Florida State on Friday, Feb. 20 at 12 p.m., head to Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Saturday, Feb. 21 to face Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m., and then go up against UAB on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m. in Birmingham, Ala.
