BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" Florida Atlantic University junior CJ Chatham has been named a Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
"It means a lot to be recognized nationally with some of the best players in the country," Chatham said. "Hopefully I can contribute to our team performing well again this year."
Chatham hit .335 in 2015 with 44 RBI. His 22 doubles led an FAU squad that returned to an NCAA Regional appearance with the help of his 19-game hitting streak late in the season. Chatham scored 44 runs and belted three triples and three home runs, slugging .496 on the year, starting 60 games for the Owls.
"That is a fantastic accolade for CJ and our team. It's really well deserved," FAU Head Coach John McCormack said. "His game has really taken another jump in the last year. I look forward to seeing him play this spring. It will be fun."
FAU opens the 2016 campaign with a four-game road trip at Mississippi State where it will play the host Bulldogs and South Dakota State starting on Feb. 19. Season tickets for FAU home games may be purchased by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS or by visiting FAUSports.com.
