BOCA RATON, Fla. - Maja Ristic's double-double (12 kills, 11 digs) in the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team's sweep (25-14, 25-13, 25-14) of UTEP on Friday. FAU improved to 10-6 on the year and 2-2 in Conference USA play.
The Miners (7-11, 1-3) never seriously challenged in either of the first two sets. In the third set, the score was close in the early going. FAU led by a single point, 11-10, before going on a 12-2 run to help put the match away.
Freshman Gabriela Martin hit .667 (9-1-12), while classmate Abbi Reid hit .636 (8-1-11). As a team, FAU bested UTEP in several categories including kills (45-18), hitting percentage (.290-.055), assists (42-18) and digs (52-35). Genesis Viera had her third double-double of the year with 16 assists and 10 digs.
