The Florida Atlantic University men's cross country team took home a third place finish in the 8k at the Disney Cross Country Classic on Saturday.
The Owls had an average time of 27:21.68 for a team total of 305 points. Senior Michael Vidal led the charge, coming in 18th place out of 250 runners with a final time of 25:56.60. Christian Small followed for the Owls, finishing in 27:14 for "68th" place.
Coming in 81st place was freshman Conor Fitzgerald with a time of 27:25.50. His classmate Jonathan Werble finished 105th in 27:58.60. Junior Joshua Nicholas finished in the top 120 in 117th place with a final time of 28:13.70.
Freshman John Marting, sophomore Corey Moogerfield, Ross Rabalais and Jehal Thompson followed for the Owls, with final times of 28:18.60, 28:27.00, 28:33.10, and 28:45.40, respectively. Johanny Przygocki and Connor Bergin rounded out the group finishing 154th, and 184th with final times of 29:02.90 and 29:46.60.
Personal bests was a goal for the men's team today, and Vidal, Small, Fitzgerald, Werble, Nicholas, Marting, Rabalais, Thompson, and Przygocki achieved the feat.
"It's exciting to see everyone continue to improve and run fast times while still training hard," said Head Cross Country Coach Alex Smolka.
The Owls will compete in the USF Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. in Tampa, Fla. For more information or to view the full cross country schedule, please visit FAUsports.com.
