Florida Atlantic Men's Tennis Opens Season at USF

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic men's tennis traveled to Tampa to face No. 22 USF (2-0) Friday. In FAU's first full match of the spring season The Owls (0-1) fell to the Bulls 4-0 as USF dominated both singles and doubles competition. FAU begins the season facing four programs ranked in the top 75 of the ITA rankings.
FAU loss the doubles point early with FAU senior Richard Meade and FAU freshman Zandrix Acob losing 6-2 to Justin Roberts and Oliver Pramming. FAU senior Robert Dubuque and FAU freshman Kian Mclean fell to Vadym Kalyuzhnyy and Ignacio Gonzalez 6-1.
FAU was unable to get any traction in singles losing the No.1, No. 3, and No. 6 positions with out securing a point. No. 19 Roberto Cid defeated FAU's Richard Meade 6-1, 6-1 followed by Justin Roberts defeating FAU's Robert Dubuque 6-2, 6-1. FAU senior Will Neuner playing the No. 3 position fell to Sasha Gozun 6-3, 6-3 to end the match. The bright spot for FAU freshman Zandrix Acob won the second set in his match against Oliver Pramming, but the match ended unfinished.
FAU is back in action Saturday January 17, at 1 p.m. against No. 70 UCF in Orlando. The match originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed due to weather. The Owls then head to No. 55 University of Miami January 18, at 12 p.m.
