Athletics OSF Sets High Goals after Banner Year

The OSF - the fundraising arm of FAU's Department of Athletics - was able to reach and surpass its annual scholarship fundraising goal of $750,000. Overall contributions in support of FAU student-athletes by FAU alumni and friends for the 2013-2014 fiscal year ending on June 30 exceeded $850,000.
The Department of Athletics' fundraising efforts were greatly enhanced by the OSF Scholarship Challenge. This scholarship challenge initiated by FAU Campus Leadership took place from February through June. All scholarship donations received by the OSF during this period, up to $125,000, were matched by the University.
"Thanks to the continued support and generosity of our alumni, family and friends, the Owl Scholarship Fund was able to surpass our fundraising goals over the past year," said Phillip Rich, associate athletics director for development. "Our mission will continue to be increasing scholarship opportunities for our student-athletes. We are strengthening current relationships while building new ones within the South Florida community. Without the generosity of our supporters, our future would not be nearly as bright."
OSF donors benefited in 2013-14 by receiving new, unique and exclusive opportunities to participate in FAU athletics' activities based on their giving level. These opportunities included invitations to closed football practices, game day access to the Delray Acura Club, and reserved parking opportunities at FAU Stadium. "As one of the football program's early supporters, it is great to see the department's growth," said Rick Murdoch, FAU football founder and OSF member. "The OSF's direction and positive effect on student-athletes' lives makes this a priority among our charitable gifts each year."
As the Owls prepare for 2014-15, the OSF is poised to surpass its record breaking year.
