NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team concluded action at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic with a sweep of Tulane (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) on Saturday.

Strong serving by Liene Mellupe and Nicole Unger gave the Owls (7-3) a 10-2 lead in the first set, and the lead never fell below three points the rest of the way, as FAU won the set 25-19. Set number two began with more strong serving by the Owls and they built an 11-4 lead. Once again, the lead remained at least three points the remainder of the set.

Unlike the first two sets, the third set was close in the early going. The score was level at 7 before the Owls scored four of the next five points to gain control of the set. The lead grew to as large as eight and FAU eventually clinched the match with a 25-18 victory.

Brittany Brown and Kristina Rankovic were named to the all-tournament team. The Owls will open Conference USA play on Wednesday when they travel to rival FIU. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
