BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team lost to rival FIU 3-1 on Sunday.
FIU (25-15, 7-5 C-USA) took an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI groundout and Krystal Garcia's double down the line in left. Stephanie Texeira added to the lead in the top of the third inning with a solo homerun to center.
Christina Martinez put the Owls (24-19, 7-8) on the board with a base hit that drove in Delaney Rickey in the bottom of the inning. FAU had runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth, but a fielder's choice to third ended the inning.
