HOUSTON, Texas - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team suffered its worst loss of the season on Saturday, dropping a Conference USA matchup at Rice 14-1.

FAU (14-9, 3-5 C-USA) scored first as Brendon Sanger singled to lead off the game and Tyler Rocklein drove him in for the first run of the game.

Rice (18-6, 7-1 C-USA) then took over, posting multiple runs in the third, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth innings. Rice's 14 runs is the most scored against FAU since Arkansas Little Rock reached the same mark on May 4 in Boca Raton. FAU lost that game 14-10.

Sanger led FAU at the plate for the second consecutive game, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Mitch Morales also went 2-for-4 on the day.

Jeremy Strawn was tagged with the loss, allowing six run on five hits and two walks in his 3.1 innings of work. Strawn earned the only two strikeouts of the game against Rice.

Rice's Blake Fox improved his winning streak to five games, fanning three FAU batters while giving up eight hits and a run over 6.2 innings.

Saturday's game marked the first time in 2014 in which FAU has lost a game after leading at any point in the contest

The third game of the series has been moved up to a Noon Central / 1 p.m. Eastern time first pitch on Sunday due to the threat of storms in the Houston area.
