Owls Lose Two at UNF Sand Invitational

St. Augustine, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University sand volleyball team lost a pair of matches at the UNF Sand Invitational on Sunday, dropping 4-1 decisions to both Jacksonville and South Carolina.
In their first match of the day, the duo of Kristi Tekavec and Lexi Rhein rallied from down a set to defeat Emily Laskelle and Rachel Miller in three sets at no. 5. Lauren D'Amato and Beth Shoaff won the first set at no. 2, but fell in three to Jizzian Geusaldo and Gabriela Roman. The Dolphins swept the other three courts.
Later in the day against South Carolina, Tekavec and Rhein where once again successful at no.5, this time in straight sets. At both no. 1, (Darija Sataric/Natalie Fraley) and no. 3 (Megan Knapp/Mandy McIntosh), the Owls were able to extend the Gamecocks to three sets, but were unable to complete the comeback on either court.
The Owls will host Webber International for their first ever home sand volleyball match on Wednesday, March 12. The match will begin at 10 a.m. on the courts located behind JB's on the Beach in Deerfield Beach.
