BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University offensive lineman Reggie Bain has earned Freshman All-American honors by "247Sports."
Bain began his collegiate career in January when he came to the Owls as an early enrollee. The early start allowed the Miami native to work into FAU's strength and condition as well as nutrition programs. He then proved himself in spring drills for FAU Head Football Coach Charlie Partridge and position coach Bart Miller.
Bain earned a starting spot after summer conditioning and preseason drills. His first collegiate start was at then-No. 22 Nebraska. One week later, he matched up against 2015 football playoff participant Alabama. In all, Bain started 12 games at left tackle where he produced a season-ending 97 percent grade. The Owls' starting left tackle allowed just two quarterback hurries, tallied 52.5 knockdowns, saw just two sacks and had no pre-snap penalties.
Bain began the week by being named the Owls Newcomer of the Year at the end-of-season banquet. On Dec. 9, he was named to Conference USA's All-Freshmen team. Bain is the second Owl to attain Freshman All-American status since the program's inception.
