BOCA RATON, Fla. - Sophomore Shaneese Bailey and freshman Malia Kency led the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team to an 81-74 victory over Northeastern in the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday.
FAU (4-2) led for all but 28 seconds in the game and shot 21-of-23 from the free throw line. The Owls also posted a fantastic assist-to-turnover margin with 16 dimes and only six turnovers. FAU did not have a player commit multiple turnovers in the game.
NU (2-3) was led by Francesca Sally's 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Huskies out-rebounded the Owls 50-37.
Bailey scored FAU's first five points of the game en route to her 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and no turnovers. On the weekend, the sophomore posted 47 points and 23 rebounds in two games.
Kency made four of FAU's ten 3-pointers to finish with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists. Fellow freshman Lauren Williams also reached double-digits with 13 points and five assists.
Shaneese Bailey was named to the All-Tournament team as she led all scorers and all rebounders in the field.
North Dakota State defeated NJIT in the nightcap to win the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament.
