Softball Signs Eight in Fall Signing Period

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University Head Softball Coach Joan Joyce has announced the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. All eight are expected to enroll in the Fall of 2015.
Summer Damiano (Williston, Fla./Williston HS) is a speedy, smooth fielding player from the Gainesville area, who earned an honorable mention to the Miracle Sports 4A All-State team. Off the field, Damiano was named Miss Williston 2013.
Katie Flanagan is an outfielder from Tarpon Springs, Fla. (Palm Harbor University HS) whose speed is expected to make an immediate impact on the basepaths. Flanagan was a Third Team 8A All-State selection as a sophomore.
Samantha Lageyre is a senior from Miami, Fla. who plays all over the field for Doral Academy Charter High School. Lageyre's defensive versatility should enable her to contend for playing time immediately. Lageyre was a 4A All-State selection as a junior.
Timber Creek High School's Mia Olsen plays first base in addition to pitching, where she will add to depth to a veteran Owls' staff. A power hitter at the plate, Olsen is a two-time All-Metro honoree.
Madisyn Palmer is one of the fastest players in the state of Florida, who will see time in the outfield for FAU. Carly Rosa is a middle infielder at Venice High School, whose solid all-around play has earned her First Team All-State recognition the last two seasons.
Ashtin Strickland provides power both at the plate and in the circle for Santa Fe High School (Gainesville, Fla.). She earned Second Team All-State honors as a sophomore.
Rounding out the class is Lauren Whitt, a utility player from Ocala, Fla. who is noted for her athleticism and work ethic. She was an All-State choice as a sophomore.
The Owls will announce their 2015 schedule in the near future.
