CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second time in as many road games, a severe offensive drought cost the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team. The Owls (1-2) lost to #25 Harvard on Thursday night.
This time, the offense dried up in the first half. FAU rode a hot shooting start to an 11-4 lead just over five minutes into the game. From that point, the Crimson went on a 28-2 run over the next 12 minutes to take a 32-13 lead. The score was 38-20 at the half.
Harvard's lead was 20 points with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Owls, however, refused to go away and scored seven points in a row to cut the lead to 56-43 at the 6:18 mark. Harvard responded with a 6-0 run of its own to seal the win. Justin Massey scored a career-high 17 points and Marquan Botley added 12 for FAU.
The Owls travel to Georgia to face the Bulldogs on Sunday at 5 p.m. The game will air on Fox Sports Network. Live audio of the game can be heard on fausports.com.
All FAU games will be carried on ESPN West Palm 106.3, which has an APP for the Smart Phone platform.
