BOCA RATON, Fla. - Seniors Bo Logan and Ricky Santiago have been named the captains of the 2015 Florida Atlantic University baseball team, as selected by their teammates.
"I thought they were great selections by the team," FAU Head Coach John McCormack said. "I would have done the same. I know each of these guys have the respect of their teammates and I look forward to watching them help the team."
Logan, a 5-10 left-handed pitcher from Naples, went 4-1 on the hill in 2014 with a team-low 1.28 ERA as a closer. He walked just seven in his 49.1 innings of work and struck out 46 in that span. Opponents hit just .178 against Logan as he earned wins against Monmouth, Charlotte, FIU and Old Dominion on the year.
"It's an honor," Logan said. "For my teammates to notice my leadership on the field truly means a lot to me."
Santiago was a versatile infielder for the Owls in 2014, seeing time at both first and third bases. The Pembroke Pines native both drove in and scored 26 runs on his 51 hits. His seven sacrifice flies ranked second in Conference USA and 26th in the nation. Santiago finished the year second on the squad with 12 doubles and three home runs.
"It's an honor to be named captain," Santiago said. "I will continue to work hard and lead this team in the right direction."
