Top Finishes by Kovacs and Potter Highlight Meet at FGCU

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet on Wednesday against FGCU in Fort Myers. Anett Kovacs and Shannon Potter were top finishers and the Owls took 15 top-five finishes throughout the day.
Kovacs hit the pad first in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing nearly four seconds before the second place finisher, with a time of 5:01.56. Potter took first in the 1 meter dive with a final score of 240.90, followed by Morgan Wankling in second (233.92).
Wankling also finished in second for the 3 meter dive with a score of 245.92. Agnes Bucz was a strong competitor at the meet, finishing in second place for both the 50 yard freestyle (24.77) and the 100 yard freestyle (53.11).
The remaining top-five finishers for the Owls are as follows:
- Abbey King, 1000 yard freestyle (4th, 10:39.48)
- Frida Nilsson, 200 yard freestyle (3rd, 1:54.69)
- Katie Dodge, 200 yard freestyle (5th, 1:56.67)
- Frida Nilsson, 100 yard butterfly (2nd, 57.80)
- Iwona Lefanowicz, 100 yard backstroke (3rd, 59.46)
- Rachel Crino, 100 yard backstroke (5th, 1:01.16)
- Michala Nowak, 500 yard freestyle (3rd, 5:13.60)
- Rachel Crino, Nadia Gargum, Kendra Prutton, Kelsea Yarnell, 200 yard medley relay (4th, 1:57.05)
- Stephanie Moeller, Jordan Richardson, Kelsey Hoffman, Carlee Jackson, 200 yard medley relay (5th, 2:01.12)
FAU fell to FGCU 146-92. FAU travels to FIU on Saturday, January 26 to compete against FIU and Indian River State College at 11 a.m. The Owls will honor its senior class before the meet.
