Las Vegas, NV - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team could not capitalize on several good scoring opportunities in losing 2-0 to Northern Arizona University on Friday, August 31, in the tournament opener of the Lady Rebels Classic, being hosted by UNLV.
The Owls held a commanding 14-10 shot advantage in the match.
However, it was the Lumberjacks (1-3) that managed to get on the scoreboard. Haley Wingender scored in the 61st minute before Cierra Gamble found the back of the net in the final minutes.
For FAU, freshman midfielder Claire Emslie paced the offensive attack with three shots. Freshman forward Taylor Sorrels, junior forward Brittney Nash and freshman forward Haleigh Stremanos each added two shots.
Senior goalkeeper Ashley Lantes made four saves in net.
