Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team dropped its home finale in a narrow 4-3 loss to Binghamton University on Saturday, April 7, at the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton.
The Owls stand 9-7 on the season and will conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m. against UCF in Orlando.
After dropping the doubles point, FAU mounted a rally in singles play by winning three of the four first completed matches. Freshman Natalia Tomaszewicz dropped only three games in picking up a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-1) at No. 6 singles.
Senior Justine Humair was a 7-5, 6-3 winner atop the singles lineup. Then, freshman Catalina Ene won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
However, the Owls couldn't get the decisive fourth point as juniors Natasha Phillips and Natasha Basma lost challenging three-set singles matches.
Ene teamed with Phillips for the Owls' only doubles victory with an 8-4 triumph at the No. 2 position.
