BOCA RATON, FL - Rain in the Boca Raton area has forced the cancellation of Sunday's softball game between Florida Atlantic and Middle Tennessee State.
The game was going to be the rubber match of a three-game series between the two teams. FAU won Saturday's first game 9-1, but lost the nightcap 11-4. The Owls and Blue Raiders at 5-16, remain tied for the no. 8 seed in the Sun Belt tournament headed into the final weekend of the regular season.
FAU will face rival FIU in a home-and-home on Friday and Saturday while MT will host Western Kentucky in a Saturday doubleheader. Should both teams finish the regular season with the same conference record, the results of their games against fellow conference members in order of seeding would be used to determine which team advances to the conference tournament.
Friday's home game against FIU will be Senior Night and the Owls will recognize four seniors playing their final home game. Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 6 p.m. and live stats of both games will be available at www.fausports.com.
