Boca Raton, FL - A successful regular season could carry over to postseason victories for the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team in this week's Sun Belt Conference Championships, beginning Thursday, April 19, in Denton, Texas.
The Owls have advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament in each of the past four seasons, and should once again be one of the top contenders after completing a 13-8 regular season --- the fifth straight season that the team has earned double digit match victories. FAU also won the consolation title at last month's Sun Belt Shootout at Middle Tennessee State University, with a 4-3 victory over Troy University.
Junior Taylor Albrecht anchors Florida Atlantic's singles and doubles lineups. He has posted an 18-1 singles record this spring, including a 17-1 mark at the No. 1 position. In doubles, he has teamed with freshman Will Neuner to post a 14-8 record, including a 10-6 mark at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Chris Janssen has won 17 singles matches, while fellow freshman Boris Bogomolov has 13 victories and Neuner has 11 triumphs in singles matches.
