Softball Drops Series Finale to Troy 5-1

BOCA RATON, FL - Heather Barnes and Taylor Fawbush accounted for of the FAU hits in the Florida Atlantic softball team's 5-1 loss to Troy on Sunday.
The duo provided back to back hits in the first inning, before Jordan Stovall drove in Fawbush with a sacrifice fly to put FAU (13-29, 3-10 Sun Belt) ahead 1-0. Another pair of hits for the tandem put runners had them on second and third with two outs in the third inning, but they were left stranded.
Troy (27-16, 7-9) scored three runs in the third to take the lead. The Trojans added two more runs in the seventh inning on an RBI triple by Nikki Hollett. The Owls were retired in order in the seventh to end the game.
FAU will begin a six-game road trip on Saturday when they face conference leading Louisiana-Lafayette in a three-game series. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 12 p.m. eastern and live stats of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
