Owls to Host Longtime Rival Troy

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team will host one of its biggest rivals, Troy University in a three-game series this weekend.
The Owls (12-27, 2-8 Sun Belt) lost two of three games to North Texas in Denton last weekend. Jordan Stovall hit her first two homeruns of the season in the series. Troy and FAU have been rivals since both were members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Trojans (23-14, 5-8) split last season's four meetings with FAU. Troy won the regular season series, winning Sunday's game 4-3 to take the series. The Owls got their revenge with an 11-0 win in the semifinals of the Sun Belt conference tournament. Troy will come to Boca Raton, having lost two of three to Western Kentucky.
After Sunday's game the softball team will play a game against a group of local Marines. Tickets are $5 per person for the general public and $4 for FAU students. Proceeds and donations from the game will benefit Semper Fi Fund.The game will also be used to raise awareness of Veteran Owls, an on-campus organization that helps FAU students that have served in the armed forces adjust to campus life.
Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 6 p.m., with Sunday's single game beginning at noon. Live stats of all games and audio of Sunday's game will be available at www.fausports.com.
