Boca Raton, FL - Four singles match victories paved the way for the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team to pick up a hard-fought 4-3 win over Sun Belt Conference opponent Troy University on Friday, March 16, at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton.
The Owls improve to 11-5 on the season and are 3-1 in matches decided by 4-3 scores. The team defeated Cleveland State University 4-3 on March 15.
After losing the doubles point, FAU grabbed momentum in the match with four straight singles victories.
Freshman Will Neuner began the rally with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Junior Taylor Albrecht only dropped three game in earning a decisive 6-1, 6-2 triumph in the No. 1 match. Albrecht improved to 15-1 on the spring season.
Freshman Boris Bogomolov put the Owls on the brink of the home victory with a straight-set win at No. 6 singles. Shortly thereafter, fellow freshman Sean Bacha clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No. 5 match.
Freshman Chris Janssen dropped a hard-fought three-set match at No. 2 singles.
FAU returns to the court on Tuesday, March 22, at 2 p.m. when Oklahoma State University of the Big 12 Conference comes to Patch Reef Park, 2000 West Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
