2013 Softball Schedule
BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University head softball coach Joan Joyce has released the team's 2013 schedule.
The Owls will kick off the year at the USF-Wilson DeMarini Opening Day Tournament in Tampa, FL on February 8-10. Among FAU's opponents at that tournament are Michigan and USF, two of the 13 games against NCAA Tournament teams from 2012. FAU will return home the following weekend (February 17-19) to host the FAU Kick-Off Classic where the University of Maryland, the University of Toledo, the University of Massachusetts and Long Island University will make up the tournament field.
FAU will host its seventh annual Strike Out Cancer tournament on February 22-24. Towson, the University of Connecticut, the University of North Florida, the University of Northern Illinois and Providence College will take part in tournament. The Owls will host another tournament the following weekend before opening Sun Belt play on March 6 and 7 at home against ULM.
A fourth home tournament will take place on March 8-10 before FAU travels to Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State for a six-game trip. The Parents' Weekend Tournament (March 22-24) will end the nonconference for the Owls. A visit from defending regular season Sun Belt champion the University of Louisiana-Lafayette highlights the home schedule. Troy University will host the 2013 Sun Belt tournament, to be held May 8-11.
