BOCA RATON, FL - FIU scored three goals in just over two and a half minutes of play, and defeated the Florida Atlantic men's soccer team Tuesday night, 5-0.
The Panthers got on the board quickly, as Christopher Moffett found a loose ball in the box and put it past FAU starting keeper Scott Power in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Then three quick goals came for the visitors. Two came at the 31:17 and 31:32 marks, by Nicolas Rodriguez and Quentin Albrecht, and then Colby Burdette put one in at 33:50. Albrecht added the team's fifth goal after the break, past the Owls' Jeremy Crumpton in the 67th minute, for the final score.
FAU were outshot, but more importantly, had a 12-2 deficit on shots on goal. Daniel Mendes had one SOG of the five he took, and freshman Kyle Curinga had the other one.
With one match to go in the regular season, the Owls are 2-11-1. Their final contest and Senior Day is this Sunday, November 4, against Mid-American Conference opponent Hartwick College. Game time is 4 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
