Chenise Miller Named Second-Team Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference

Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic University junior forward Chenise Miller enters the 2012-13 season as one of the top players in the Sun Belt Conference, earning second-team preseason all-conference honors during Tuesday's women's basketball media day. This selection was made by the league's coaches.
This was the highest preseason honor for a FAU women's basketball player in SBC history.
"Chenise has proven to me that she belongs on the all-conference team," said Kellie Lewis-Jay, FAU's first-year head women's basketball coach. "She is a player who never takes a play off and gives everything she has each minute she is on the court. I expect big things from Chenise this year."
Miller garnered second-team all-conference last season while leading the team in scoring (10.6 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg) and blocked shots (24). The rebounding mark ranked seventh in the conference last year.
The Oak Park, Michigan native helped lead FAU to a 17-13 record, marking its first winning season since the 2005-06 campaign. She scored a career-high 21 points in the Owls' victory over the University of North Texas in the conference tournament.
Overall, Florida Atlantic was selected to finish in fourth place in the East Division in the coaches' preseason poll. Middle Tennessee State University was selected to win the division, receiving 10 of the 11 first-place votes. FIU got the other first place vote and was second in the preseason poll with 54 points. Rounding out the East poll were University of South Alabama (45 points), FAU (29), Western Kentucky University (26) and Troy (12). The University of Arkansas-Little Rock is selected to win the West Division, with 10 first-place votes.
