BOCA RATON, FL - Shavar Richardson and Greg Gantt both scored 10 points, but the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to Middle Tennessee 67-54 on Saturday night.
The game was close in the early going as FAU (6-12, 2-3 Sun Belt) failed to take advantage of several early Blue Raider turnovers. Middle Tennessee eventually took advantage of the Owls' miscues and had a seven point lead late in the first half before an Alex Tucker layin to cut the margin to 28-23 at the half.
MT's lead was back at seven at the 15:09 mark of the second half when the Blue Raiders (17-2, 6-0) went on a 13-1 run over the next five and a half minutes to put the game away.
Richardson and Gantt tied for the team high with 10 points, while Andre Mattison had a career high nine rebounds.
FAU will travel to Troy to play the Trojans on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for 8:30 eastern, approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the women's game. Live audio of the game will be available via www.fausports.com.
