BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team will be represented this summer in a national golf tournament. FAU's rising senior Justin Thompson recently qualified on June 2-3 for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in a tournament in Miami Lakes at Shula's Golf Club. Thompson shot a 68 on the first round and a 73 on the second for a total of 141 to qualify for the tournament.
Thompson was of one of FAU's most consistent players this past season. He was fourth on the team with a 75.31 stroke average per 18 holes. His top finish was fourth place at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational, and his lowest three round total was 219 at the UCF Invitational.
The U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship will be held in Bandon, OR at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on June 27-July 2. Previous FAU golfers Kelly McHugh and Carl McCauley have both represented the Owls in the past at this tournament.
