Gressley, Barnes Named First Team All-Sun Belt

LAFAYETTE, LA - Senior pitcher Rose Gressley and junior second baseman Heather Barnes were named to the All-Sun Belt First Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
The announcement was made in advance of the Sun Belt Conference softball tournament, which begins Wednesday in Lafayette, LA. Gressley finished the regular season with a 17-12 record and a 1.94 earned run average. Gressley was named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week after picking up three of the Owls' four wins in a week in which FAU defeated FIU and swept Louisiana.
Barnes was named Player of the Week for her performance in those same four games. She hit .500 for that week, including a walk-off homerun in the win over FIU. For the season, Barnes leads the team in both batting average (.324) and slugging percentage (.455). In Sun Belt play, she has been even better, batting .338, with a slugging percentage of .535.
Kerri Croney, Taylor Fawbush, Ashlyn Parmerter, and Brittany Walker were also recognized for their academic performance.
FAU is the tournament's no. 2 seed at and will face no. 7 Western Kentucky at 1:30 p.m. eastern on Wednesday. Live stats of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
