Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 to Eastern Michigan

Boca Raton, Fla. - Sophomore Natasha Phillips was victorious in singles and doubles action to highlight the Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team's play in a 5-2 setback to Eastern Michigan University on Wednesday afternoon at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton.
The loss drops the Owls to 2-7 on the season. The team will return to the park on Sunday, March 6, for a home match against East Tennessee State University, starting at 3 p.m.
Phillips, a Boca Raton native, earned a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-4) at No. 6 singles after picking up an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles with junior Justine Humair. Phillips stands 7-3 on the season, including a 4-2 mark in the spring dual match season.
Sophomore Marlene Ryan was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at No. 2 singles to round out the Owls' victories. The win was also her seventh victory in singles play this season.
Humair lost a hard-fought, three-set decision atop the singles' lineup, dropping the deciding third set by a 6-3 score. Sophomore Natasha Basma also fell in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) at No. 4 singles.
