Boca Raton, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team ended a three-match losing skid in commanding fashion, scoring a 6-1 victory over Wright State University (Ohio) on Thursday afternoon at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton. The win improved the Owls' record to 8-7 for the season.

After capturing the doubles point, FAU took firm grasp of the match by winning the first set in five of the six singles matches.

Senior Marc Abdelnour, the program's all-time leader in singles and total victories, earned a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win at No. 1 singles. That was followed by fellow senior Ervin Garibovic being victorious at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-2) for his 10th victory this season. The seniors also teamed to win the No. 1 doubles match (8-4).

Keeping up with his classmates, senior Daniel Vardag won a second-set tiebreaker to complete a straight-set win (6-4, 7-6 (4)) at No. 3 singles.

Florida Atlantic's other singles winners were freshman Oliver Webb, in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) at No. 4, and freshman Marc Wakim, who was victories in the No. 5 match (6-4, 7-6 (5)).

Vardag and Wakim combined to give the hosts the doubles point with a 8-4 win in the No. 2 match.

The Owls will return to the park on Saturday, March 26, when they host the University of Maryland-Baltimore Country, beginning at noon.
