BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team lost both of its games on the final day of the Parents' Weekend tournament.
The Owls lost 7-3 to Michigan State in their first game of the day. Brittany Walker had a two-run double that tied the score at three in the top of the fifth inning. A Karen Fox grand slam in the bottom of the inning gave the Spartans the lead for good.
FAU lost to Buffalo 4-3 in the final game of the tournament. Carly Speerin drove in Walker and Heather Barnes with a double in the first inning. Speerin later scored on a Taylor Fawbush base hit to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
The lead was 3-1 in the top of the sixth when the Bulls scored three runs with aid of two Owl errors and a Fawbush wild pitch to take the lead. FAU had the tying run in third base in both the sixth and seventh innings, but were unable to convert either opportunity.
The Owls return to action on Monday night, when they face Purdue in a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. Live stats for both games will be available at www.fausports.com.
