BOCA RATON, FL - Raymond Taylor scored 21 points in the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team defeated Middle Tennessee 62-51 on Thursday night.
The game was a defensive struggle as both the Owls (16-6, 8-0 Sun Belt) and the Blue Raiders (9-12, 4-4) caused many loose balls which sent players from both teams diving to the floor on numerous occasions. FAU built a lead as large as 10 points in the first half and went to the locker room up nine, 33-24.
The physical play resumed in the second half and Brett Royster missed time due to injury, as Kore White did in the first half. MT got to within four points on three different occasions, but couldn't get any closer. A 15-5 run late in the second half sealed the win for the Owls.
FAU will attempt to set the program record for the longest winning streak when they try for their ninth in a row on Saturday against Western Kentucky. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox College Sports and live audio will be available at www.fausports.com.
