MURFREESBORO, TN - Raymond Taylor scored a career high 26 points in the Florida Atlantic's 71-61 over Middle Tennessee on Thursday night.
The Owls' first half defense was once again the story as they held the Blue Raiders to just 19 points and went to the locker room up seven, 26-19.
In the second half, MTSU managed to pull within five at the midway point, but FAU scored six in a row to put the lead to 11. The margin was back down to six, but then the Owls reeled off nine straight points to take a 15 point lead, 61-46, with 3:26 remaining.
However, that run did not decide the game as Middle Tennessee worked their way back within six when Taylor converted a three-point play that finally killed any hopes of a Blue Raider comeback.
FAU's 5-0 conference start is the best in school history.
The Owls will look to continue their historic conference start on Saturday when they face Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. eastern and live audio will be available at www.fausports.com. The game will also be televised on Fox College Sports.
