BOWLING GREEN, KY - Four Owls scored in double figures as the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team beat Western Kentucky 78-73 on Saturday night.
FAU (14-6, 6-0 Sun Belt) showed off its offensive balance in the first half as five Owls scored at least six points while building a lead as large as 15. The Hilltoppers (5-11, 0-4) made a small run to pull within nine at the half, 40-31. WKU made their big run early in the second half eventually tying the score at 49. Five different Owls scored during the run that helped reestablish a double-digit lead that effectively ended the game.
The Hilltopper trio of Steffphon Pettigrew, Sergio Kerusch and Juan Pattillo scored 59 points, but FAU held the rest of the team to just 14 points.
FAU's six game winning streak is its longest at the Division I level. The Owls will return to Boca Raton, FL on Saturday to host UALR. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
