BOCA RATON, FL - Sophomore Georgia Robinson had a career high 15 kills and Kristyna Dzmuranova narrowly missed a triple-double in the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team's 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-14) win over Stetson on Tuesday night.
FAU (10-8) lost the first set, despite five kills from Robinson and four more from fellow sophomore Christina Wallinger. In the second set, A Robinson serving run helped the Owls get out to a 13-3 lead. The Hatters never got closer than five points the rest of the set and FAU tied the match at one set each.
Robinson added six kills in the third set and an extended service run by freshman Brooke Nemethy helped the Owls take a 2-1 lead.
Nemethy served the last 11 points of the fourth set to clinch the match for the Owls, who went 3-1 in their four match homestand. Dzmuranova had 10 kills, 11 digs and a career high eight blocks, just missing the first triple-double in FAU program history.
Nemethy (two service aces, four digs), Danielle Priest (four kills, one block) and Nicole Dunn (eight digs, two service aces) all saw extended stretches of playing time during the match.
The Owls will hit the road for the first time in Sun Belt play, traveling to face Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee over the weekend. Friday's match at Western Kentucky will start at 8 p.m. eastern and live stats will be available at www.fausports.com.
