BOCA RATON, FL - Blair Bodenmiller was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team, the organization announced Wednesday. Bodenmiller joins former baseball player Chris Saxton as the only Academic All-Americans in FAU history. Saxton was named to the third team as a pitcher in 2004.
Academically, Bodenmiller completed her bachelor's degree in December 2008 with a 3.96 undergraduate grade point average while majoring in political science. She holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in graduate school at FAU and will attend law school in the fall. Bodenmiller was named to the All-District first team in each of the last two years.
Athletically, she hit .297 as a senior with five homeruns and was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second year in a row. She ended her career among the school's all-time leaders in several categories including stolen bases, RBIs and homeruns. Bodenmiller was also named to the Sun All-Tournament team as a junior. She is just the second two-time winner of FAU's Female Student-Athlete of the Year, joining former volleyball player Kim Pruitt.
"It's a great honor to be recognized for either academic or for athletic achievements. Being recognized for accomplishments in both areas is extremely gratifying," said Bodenmiller of being named to the team.
