MOBILE, AL - The Florida Atlantic softball team lost to Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0 on Thursday night.

The Owls (28-25) never caught up to ULL pitcher Donna Bourgeois, managing only two walks off of her on the night. Amber Barton matched her efforts inning for inning, consistently pitching out of trouble. Lana Bowers walked with two outs in the sixth inning, advanced on a wild pitch then scored on a Ashley Ray bleeder that just crept through the FAU infield.

Jones led off the seventh inning with a walk, advanced to second on a Kerri Croney sacrifice bunt, then moved over to third on a grounder that Jessica Myers narrowly missed beating out. That brought Rose Gressley to the plate with the tying run on third, but she grounded to third to end the game. Barton threw a complete game six-hitter in the loss.

FAU will now play North Texas in a losers' bracket Friday at 1:30 eastern, with the winner advancing to face Troy at 6:30 eastern. Live stats and live audio of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
