Owls Renew Rivalry With FIU

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team will head to Miami on Wednesday for its only game this week.

The Owls (21-19, 6-5 Sun Belt) split last weekend's series with Troy. FAU lost last season's series to FIU 2-1, avoiding a sweep by defeating the Golden Panthers (25-15, 7-5) 2-1 in extra innings in the regular season finale.

FIU is one of the top offensive teams in the conference, led by freshman Brie Rojas, who is third in the Sun Belt with a .395 batting average. Teammates Kayla Burri (.393) and reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Ashley McClain (.381) are fourth and fifth in the conference, respectively. Senior pitcher Kasey Barrett was just named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week for helping FIU to take two out of three games from Louisiana-Lafayette over the weekend.
