MONROE, LA - A second consecutive 20 point game from Raymond Taylor helped the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team to a 60-58 win over ULM on Sunday night.
The Owls (8-5, 2-0 Sun Belt) got out to a 18-2 lead less than 10 minutes into the game. The Warhawks (3-9, 0-1) rallied to within six at the half.
A ULM three-pointer cut the lead to three points less than three minutes left into the second half, but FAU responded with a 7-0 run over the next three minutes to put the margin back to 10. It was then the Warhawks turn to rally as they scored the next eight points to pull within two at 50-48 at the 8:06 mark.
The two teams traded rallies for the next several minutes, and ULM had several opportunites to tie or take the lead, but FAU never surrendered the lead. Taylor ended up with 20 points on the night and snagged a game-high eight rebounds.
FAU is 2-0 in Sun Belt play for the first time since 2006-07 season and guaranteed itself a winning record on its five-game road trip. The Owls will wrap up their five game road trip on Wednesday when they play Depaul. The game will start at 8:30 p.m. eastern and live audio will be available at www.fausports.com.
