BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic Head Softball Coach Joan Joyce has released the team's 2011 schedule. The Owls will begin the season at the NTC Elite Invitational in Clermont, FL for the second year in a row.
FAU will then return to Boca Raton for the FAU Kick-Off Classic, which includes Michigan, Long Island, UMass, Tulsa and Penn State. The Owls will host the fifth annual Strike Out Cancer tournament from February 25-27. The field includes Big East teams Pittsburgh and UConn.
The Owls will host two more home tournaments, the Miken Classic (March 4-6) and the Parents' Weekend Tournament (March 11-13). FAU will travel to Clearwater, FL for the USF-The Game Invitational.
"The only way to beat good teams is to play good teams and that is why our schedule is as difficult as it is," said Coach Joyce.
FAU will begin Sun Belt play on March 26, when they begin a three game series against Western Kentucky. The highlight of the home conference schedule is a three-game set against defending Sun Belt champions Louisiana-Lafayette on April 23 & 24.
