PORTLAND, OR - The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team lost to Portland 89-75 on Saturday in the championship game of the Athletes in Action Classic on Sunday.
The game was close for most of the first as the two teams battled for control. A Pilots' run late in the half put them ahead by 11, but Raymond Taylor hit a halfcourt buzzer beater to cut the lead to eight at the intermission.
Portland started the second half with a rally, getting out to an 18 point lead. The Owls were able to get to within 11 before the final media timeout, but couldn't get any closer the rest of the way, falling 89-75.
Greg Gantt who scored a team-high 20 points and Alex Tucker, who scored 10 points, dished out seven assists and added three steals were named to the All-Tournament Team.
FAU will return to Boca Raton, where they will host Warner Southern in a rematch from last season. The game will start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and live audio of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
