BOCA RATON, FL - There was no repeat of last year's triple overtime thriller as Gainesville natives Greg Gantt and Dennis Mavin combined for 34 points on the night to help the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team defeat Warner Southern 88-58 on Wednesday night.
The Owls were never really challenged on the night, as they quickly dispelled any hopes of a repeat of last year's meeting.
Gantt did most of his damage early, scoring 14 of his game high 20 in the first half. Kore White added 10 points and five rebounds prior to intermission. Mavin took over after the break, scoring 10 of his 14 points after halftime. White ended the night with 16 points, giving FAU three players in double figures. Jordan McCoy had a career-high 11 rebounds.
FAU will face American in another rematch from last season, on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Boca Raton. Live audio of the game will be available on www.fausports.com.
