BOCA RATON, FL - After a scoreless tie in game one of the FAU Baseball World Series on Monday, the bats came alive for Team Sanderson in game two on Wednesday in a 4-1 victory over Team Frick.
Sophomore RHP Jake Meiers started for Team Sanderson on the mound and earned the victory, pitching four innings of one-run, four-hit baseball with one strikeout.
Nick DelGuidice gave Team Sanderson the early lead with an RBI triple to right-center field, scoring Andy Mee in the bottom of the first inning. The next batter, Corey Keller, singled home Delguidice to give Team Sanderson a 2-0 lead.
For Team Frick, Geoff Jimenez tripled in the fourth inning and was knocked in by a Colby Gratton RBI groundout for their only run of the game.
Game three will be played on Friday at 3 p.m. at the FAU Baseball Stadium. If Team Frick wins game three and ties the series at 1-1, there will be a sudden death game four with the coaches taking over the pitching duties in an extra-inning type scenario.
