MOBILE, AL - Greg Gantt scored 21 points in the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team's 70-59 win over South Alabama on Thursday.
South Alabama (12-10, 4-6 Sun Belt) began the game on a hot streak and led 16-6 eight minutes into the game before a 7-0 Owl run cut the lead to three. FAU (11-10, 7-3) managed to gain a six point edge on the Jaguars, but were up just two at the half, 29-27.
FAU got out to the quick start in the second half, taking a 43-35 lead, USA eventually pulled even with the Owls at 53 with 4:09 remaining. Back-to-back threes by Gantt jumpstarted a 12-0 Owl run that decided the game. Gantt had his fifth 20+ point game in the last seven outings and was the game's leading scorer. Tucker (10) and Sanchez Hughley (16) were also in double figures for the Owls.
The Owls return to the Burrow on Saturday night to face rival FIU. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
