BOCA RATON, FL - Sanchez Hughley led all scorers with 17 points in the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team's 78-63 win over Arkansas State on Saturday.
FAU trailed by nine early on the first half, but rallied to take a 25-19 lead. A Greg Gantt layup gave the Owls a 35-28 lead at the break. Alex Tucker had 11 points at the half.
ASU scored the first six points of the second half to pull within one, at 37-36. The Owls went on a 10-2 run to gain a 47-38 advantage. The Red Wolves scored the next five points, but back-to-back buckets by Justin Davis and a three-pointer by Greg Gantt put FAU ahead 54-43. The Red Wolves mounted yet another run, this time cutting the lead to four at 56-52. Sanchez Hughley hit two consecutive three-pointers to give the Owls a 10-point edge that helped the seal the win.
The Owls won their fourth home game in a row and for the fifth time in six games overall. FAU now travels to South Alabama. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start. Live audio of the game will be available on ESPN760.com and FAUsports.com.
